Consumer Report

Good day! Having traveled 20000 km. for a year and a half on Rav 4 equipment: comfort + (CVT, front-wheel drive) decided to share my impressions. After a long agony of choice, I decided to take this particular car. requirements for the car - the transition from the Corolla to a higher class, not swinging much in size but also improving the patency on unexpected bumps (bypassing an obstacle on a bumpy roadside, jumping over a curb, driving along a rustic dirt road). During the first testing, I did not find any advantages over Korean classmates, but, having driven thoroughly, I noticed: better dynamics, smoother running, thanks to the variator, sound insulation, more elegant, more economical in the cabin. I did not consider the Germans because of the sagging quality. Operation: Moscow, trips to the country, Sochi, Crimea, Seliger, St. Petersburg. Stable at all speeds, holds turns tenaciously, you feel confident on mountain serpentines, enviable traction, lightning-fast response to the gas pedal. On steep climbs, you can turn on the “sport” mode, switch to manual gear control on descents, engine braking occurs - you don’t burn the pads, your leg doesn’t get tired. .When traveling to the Crimea for the 1st day passed more than 1000 km. and I won’t say that I’m tired, comfortable fit, good visibility. Moscow traffic jams are also normal, quite good music, bluetooth, eco mode makes the car smoother. The purchase paid off, the goal was achieved, the car is good for the city and for long-distance travel.

What I didn’t like: it warms up for a long time, not all keys are backlit, you can’t find it at night. To press the "sport", "eco" buttons, turn on the seat heating, you have to bend unnaturally. I thought I'd get used to it, I don't get used to it. There is no eyeglass. Instead of convenient overhead switches for turning on the backlight, there are some kind of Zhiguli "rocker arms".

Recently noticed breakdowns ass. suspension, appear when overcoming obstacles at low speeds. Appealed to the Toyota Center Bitts, swept, as luck would have it, the knocks did not appear. They treated with understanding, they said: if they appear, come. Well, it seems, so far everything is not crowded, but the mileage for Toyota with its legendary reliability is small.

I hope this little review helps someone in the throes of choice!

THAT for 20,000 mileage.

Recently did TO-2 after 20,000 runs. In fact, a topic for reflection and discussion. Despite the fact that we are ready to throw more than a million into the box office window of a car dealership for a toy on wheels you like, you pay for obviously inflated prices for maintenance with annoyance and chagrin, even considering that I don’t live on the last penny and I don’t regret funds for my favorite toy. Taking into account discounts, I was counted 15,500 rubles. Changing the engine oil, oil filters, cabin, diagnostics. For comparison: TO-1, which differed only in the absence of a cabin filter replacement, cost 6800. To my timid question about a significant difference, they convincingly answered: there are much more diagnostics. Maintenance time is at least 2 hours. I handed over the car, with an alley step I went towards the forest park, after 30 minutes. call: the car is ready! They answered my next naive question: The machine was immediately put into operation and serviced by 2 masters. Also recommended to do reg. wheel alignment angle - 3000 rubles. In the summer I drove more than 100 km along Seliger, no, not roads, but their pathetic likeness! Clearing in the forest under the grader. Due to the numerous transverse gullies of various depths and widths, the car even shakes. if you go at the speed of a hearse. So I was not surprised at the need to adjust the angle of the wheels. So, having done maintenance, I extended the warranty for a year or 10,000 km. It's kind of calmer with her. While everything.

Winter operation

Good day! On New Year's holidays we went to Kostroma, the Kolos boarding house. 360 km. The track deserves praise - new overpasses, interchanges, Pereslavl-Zalessky bypass. there is enough speed control, my radar detector squealed all the way. I received one letter, it's not annoying, during my "sea" trips I get a pile of letters. Considering that I had 3 wives with me. a lot of things have accumulated! Praise to the trunk: everything is well placed. We left early in the morning. 5 hours later they were there. I did not feel tired, although we drove non-stop.

The city is well-groomed, they treat architectural monuments with care, the roads in Kostroma are good, there were no "crazy" drivers, for 2 days of trips around the city the traffic police never stopped. The granddaughter was delighted with the Snow Maiden's tower.

January 1, 24 frost outside. Key flick and fired up. But it takes a long time to warm up. Avg. consumption during the trip was 10 liters.

A few words about winter tires. Having read articles in auto publications about the fact that studless tires will not lose at all to studded tires, and being afraid to lose in comfort due to increased noise, I bought Bridgestone, Velcro. "Given that in winter I mostly drive Solaris February 2015 issue ., on which a studded Nokia stands, I can say that studded tires behave much better in winter.

Exploitation

Car owners and those who dream of becoming them, good day!

Writing reviews is a thankless task, there will definitely be a bastard called the mystical word 'troll' and he's pissed off, or a lazy, embittered rogue will repeat that his 10-year-old used shushlaika with collective farm xenon and roofing material toned is 100 times better than the new Rav. But Fortunately, there is a whole group of Ravovods on Drome, whose reviews, opinions, recommendations I read with benefit.

So, the 3rd year of operation. Mileage-to 30,000. Nothing creaks in the cabin, nothing knocks in the suspension. Consumption within 10 liters per hundred. Engine 2 l. 146 HP paired with a variator, they never let me regret the lack of power. Instant response to pressing the gas pedal and a confident set of speed. On long trips without straining you make overtaking. I practiced with the “sport” mode, rushing better, overtaking is faster, but the engine is also twisted a lot.

I am still satisfied with the car, I don’t look around yet, although, to be honest, the restyled one is more pleasant to the eye. What is missing in the car: gas stops could be put on the hood, there is no warning about a low level of washer fluid. One night it was necessary to adjust the mirrors, I looked, but the buttons are not visible due to the lack of backlight. It would not hurt and electric tailgate, but it's his own fault, did not take this version. To find out the temperature outside, you have to scroll through the information, it is not permanently fixed on the display. It seemed to me that Toyota has such a philosophy: Toyota is not satisfied, please, Lexus. This year I did not insure for Casco. I can’t even exactly explain the reason for the decision, firstly, there were no traditional trips to the sea, and secondly, in Moscow in the garage, in the country too. I installed locks on the automatic transmission and hood. The risks of theft and accidents have decreased. Since 2007, according to Casco, I have taken about 500 thousand rubles to kind and caring insurers. I applied 3 times - scratches on bumpers and doors. Moreover, in 2010 at the Spassky Gate (they were just wiser with company mergers) it took more than 3 months to design and eliminate the scratch! Of course, this is a wide topic for discussion , there are dozens of opinions, someone will call you naive (he hung up two locks and calmed down) and will be right in his own way. But there is only one decision to make. In view of the fact that the "fashion" for nightly dismantling wheels without the consent of the owner is still popular, screwed up the secrets. Although it is written in large letters on the package: double chrome, this “double” bloomed in the first summer, and it’s also terribly inconvenient, even for me. It’s for the fitter to screw them in and out. they grind, at times more reliable and more convenient, although not so elegant.

MOT 3 is on the way. That's where the fool is! I wrote about TO 2 earlier, later it turned out that at a cost of 16 thousand, the cabin and air filters were not replaced. It turns out that for this amount I only have engine oil. changed! But kept the warranty. Reusable yaws on the forums showed that it does not break during the warranty period, with the exception of cases of operation on heavy roads, one owner recently wrote about this on the Drome. And even then these are not unexpected breakdowns, but wear of parts due to harsh operating conditions. What breaks down is my Vaz 2007. I bought it new in 2012 from an authorized dealer for 207 thousand as a workhorse for completing the summer cottage, and, well, so that there is something under the window. During this time, with a run of 36,000 km. was replaced: ball bearings, tie rod ends, stove motor, clutch assembly, generator, battery, muffler, something shorted under the torpedo, puffed up, after that the cigarette lighter and radio tape recorder do not work.

Some will condemn me for such a retreat, but this comparison will appeal to the drivers of my generation, who for many years drove such cars and counted. that Vaz is the best car.

While everything.

Exploitation

Good day!

Mini addition. Today I went to the cottage. An early but sure winter generously snowed the roads in the gardening community. And what I noticed when driving on a snowy road: the car scours from side to side with the front axle. Auto front wheel drive. If there was a rear axle with a drive, it would push and the car would go smoothly.

In vain I was ironic about the benefits of all-wheel drive! Dear all-wheel drive ravovods: I take my words back!

And after all, there was a cash reserve when buying a car. And I also noticed: to those options that seemed to be more than when buying, after a while there is a desire to add something else. For example, now I would not interfere with the electric tailgate.

There were few cars on the track, I experimented with cruise control: I set it to 125 km / h. Consumption came out 8.2 liters. for a hundred.

That's all for now! Just in case, Happy New Year 2017 everyone. If I don't show up at the Drome again in 2016.

A trip to the sea.

Good day! A small addition is a report to the ravovods.

At 35 thousand, I replaced the front brake pads. I turned out to be a little at a loss from the uneven wear of the discs in the form of parallel grooves of various widths and depths. I did not turn it, I decided to try it and see what happens. As a result: the brakes became dumber. And one of these days to leave

on the sea, I think, they will grind along the highway. Eventually. even after a run of 5 thousand brakes, it feels like they are not the same. It seems that when replacing the pads, it is also necessary to change the discs, since the groove is a dubious matter if the total wear of the disc was about 3 mm. what remains after the turner!

Engine oil I replaced it myself: I bought a special key for the cover of the filter housing, took it apart, inserted a new cartridge, and then everyone knows.

So far, 41,000 miles. Everything is okay.

We went to the Azov and Black Seas. I left the dacha (Chekhov) at 3 am, late in the evening we were in Yeysk. By this I made a pleasant discovery for myself - I wanted to quickly hit the road to the sea - go to Azov. I didn’t like the beach in Yeysk, it’s shallow, the water is yellowish due to the sandy-clay bottom

And in the village of Dolzhanskaya there is a place with cottages, an equipped beach, free showers. toilets, there is even a sports ground and scooter rental, not to mention bicycles. The cleanliness was amazing. This place is called, "Cossack coast". On the Black Sea, they were in Durso - a peaceful place!

Exploitation.

Good day. respected ravovody!

The fifth year of operation, "black" did not present any unpleasant surprises, malfunctions and breakdowns.

In the summer, during a trip to Totma, Vologda region. a nice figure came out on the odometer - 50,000 km., I couldn’t resist. I took a picture. and I’ll also throw a photo with an expense that came out with the cruise control installed in the early morning along the Simferopol highway after a 50-kilometer run.

As I wrote earlier, I replaced the front brake pads without turning the discs, drove after 7000 km. and the brakes have returned to their former properties, they normally brake, and, sometimes, with a lesser grip. It was decided to replace both the discs and pads, the groove of the discs, I consider it a dubious matter. So, I went to the store, "Rus", which is a three-minute walk, and the zombie man reminded me in the back that there was a crisis in the country (it's endless, or something). It was decided to save banknotes. I used to buy consumables, which are approximate to the maximum speed, by the way, the engine almost killed the Bosch air filter, I noticed in time that during installation the moronic additional gasket of the filter flanging was displaced (none of the other manufacturers have this nonsense) and dusty air could pass between the filter and the housing. the Polish filter is an exact copy of the native one and is cheaper than the Bosch one.

So, I bought the most budgetary pads and discs in the store (so budgetary that the seller grimaced slightly). I replaced everything myself (I enjoy it) and immediately behind the wheel! I was pleased with the result! New pieces of iron slow down perfectly! The pads are interesting, instead of anti-squeak metal snap-on plates, there are thin polymer stickers.

I've seen enough videos about the effectiveness of the Japanese polish "liquid glass" from the company Willson. At the dacha, I polished the body with a machine with farekla paste, removed small risks, scratches, tinted the chips, the "cobweb" disappeared, after that I processed it with "liquid glass."

I didn’t expect a miracle, but I liked the result, the brilliance intensified, as experts say, it became deeper, although, where does this measure of length come from? When it rains, the car gets less dirty, the water rolls off better. I upload a photo.

Changed engine oil yesterday. Filled with idemitsu 5v30. iron can, Japan. Cheaper than Toyota oil.

While everything.

Greetings ravovodov and planning to become them!

Seventh year of operation, 61000 mileage. The condition of the car is like it was taken from the salon yesterday. Consumption still hangs around 10s in mixed mode, this is without the winter period, since in winter, apart from a trip to Kostroma in 2015 and a couple of times to the country, I did not go. Getting by with Solaris and the dream of Soviet motorists, but for me, it’s like a coffin with cleats, a vase 2104 (this is when repair and construction hacks associated with the delivery of cement, dry mix, boards, and the like). All letters this time.

Fuel consumption on the highway:

  • 24 miles per gallon (US)
  • 28 miles per gallon (UK)
  • 10 l. l/100km

Happy 2017 to all disciplined drivers and interesting interlocutors! I want high-quality fuel, inexpensive spare parts!

I own Rav 4 restyled equipment comfort 4wd, only positive emotions. It keeps the road even on summer tires by 5. There are no questions at all in terms of driving performance. The stove fries. The device is worth the money.

In restyling, it is more interesting - on all modifications, the "hump" of the trunk has disappeared, the rear part and a number of other additions look more attractive. Have a nice purchase!

Congratulations on your purchase. The choice of a crossover on a monodrive, in my opinion, is not entirely justified, although IMHO. Noise isolation for this model, unfortunately, is not up to par, for the same Outleder (2014-2015) it is better. Successful operation. Add, follow.

I agree, modern cars are getting smaller ... A mono-drive crossover is even an under-crossover and is completely and never a rogue

I’m also thinking of changing to something higher with front-wheel drive, I’m looking at a restyled RAV4, maybe I’ll update in the new year. Good luck.
