Consumer Report

Good afternoon, dear Dromovtsy! I apologize in advance for the style, because this is my second review ever. I want to share with you the history of the acquisition and operation of the RAV-4 car.

Before acquiring "Rafik" (as we affectionately called him with the whole family), I had many different Japanese cars, I was engaged in ordering them from auctions from Japan, riding and selling at the same time. Thus, in my possession the car did not stay for more than three or four months. In pre-crisis times, the demand for Japs was excellent, they were sold according to the inscription on the glass, they never drove to the market. Right before Rafik, I had a Toyota Vitz RS, a fire car, but due to a combination of not very happy circumstances, I crashed it ... For myself, I decided that the next car would be bigger, because. it seemed to me that if there had been a larger car in the place of the broken Vitz, then it would not have been crushed much. A comrade who was closely involved in machines recommended that I consider RAV. At that time it was the penultimate body, I really liked it, and I began to consider options. The same comrade told me that in Japan there is a complete set with front-wheel drive and a volume of 1.8 (I was very alerted). But the person who advised me this version of the car clearly explained that two-liter RAVs have problems with our fuel, and eat more, and suggested that I remember the case when I needed four-wheel drive. After weighing it, I agreed with him, which I never regretted in the future. As a result, having reviewed and tried to bet on a lot of rafchiks, my bet was played on a 2002 car, silver color, mileage 76,800 km, fabric interior, Toyota "combine" as music, engine 1.8, rating 4.5.

The first impression of the car was ambiguous. Firstly, after Witz rs, the car surprised me with its softness, the ability to swallow the bumps in the road. But it also surprised me with its valkost cornering.

I liked the interior design very much, the shape of the seats is comfortable, all the glove compartments, handles, glasses case are located in such clear places that until now, as it seems to me, I have not seen a more comfortable salon. Landing in the car is high, visibility is excellent ...

I rate the operation of the engine and gearbox at 4 plus, the shifts are smooth, silent, but 1.8 is not enough for the car to accelerate quickly. To my surprise, a 5/AT box was listed in the auctioneer, although I only saw 4 tbsp on Toyotas. machines, as it turned out, indeed, 5 tbsp. Empirically, I approximately calculated the flow rate along the highway, about 7-7.5 liters per hundred kilometers. The complete set of the car included a leather steering wheel (on which, unlike the Mitsuba, hands do not sweat at all), leather upholstery of the gearshift lever, climate control. The climate worked "good", because. sometimes the coolness did not reach the rear passengers. Established music - sucks, radio catches weakly, but did not change, because. the screen looked beautiful on the dash and gave a more advantageous look to the cabin. For the entire period of operation, I have changed: candles with a run of 100,000; oil / filters - every 10 thousand, battery, alternator belt, pads (front). And that's it. For 4 years I drove it 100 thousand kilometers, lived in various cities, and during this time the car has never failed in terms of technical training. Five adults could easily fit into the cabin of the rafik, and there were a lot of bags in the trunk. Fold the rear seats if needed. He made repairs in the apartment, carried tiles and doors in it (very inconvenient, but true). The front seats can be laid out flush with the rear and then you get a great bed. With a run of 180,000, the chairs looked like new, the interior had a couple of scratches that were obtained during the transportation of building materials. Due to the fact that the car has a higher center of gravity compared to passenger cars, when lifting on a wet surface, the car began to "shamefully" slip the front wheels. I had to wait until the witnesses dispersed and call in backwards). But it was rare, for the city, I think it's better than a car and not necessary. Once I went fishing, and drove it up to the very rapids into the clay, pulled out the "cornfield" on a cable. And on dry off-road it rides like a real SUV. The chassis holds all the loads with dignity, nothing rattled anywhere. In general, I really liked the car, I drove it on long trips, I never got tired. The paint has not faded, there are no more scratches after Japan, the photographs show that the paintwork is in excellent condition. The cost of consumables is low, filters and pads were almost always available. Selling, my wife cried with sadness, and sometimes I call the current mistress, ask how the car is, to which she always answers me that there was not a single problem with her (pah-pah). If someone, reading a review, chooses a car of this class now, and is thinking about purchasing a Rafik, I want to say that this is a very worthy, reliable, economical and beautiful car. Good luck everyone!

Fuel consumption on the highway:

  • 34 miles per gallon (US)
  • 40 miles per gallon (UK)
  • 7.5-13 liters l/100km

The consumption of such a car with a 1.8 engine in the city of Sochi is 7.0-7.5 liters? Well, don't whistle, huh?

Good evening . Tell me, I also want to buy something for myself. I just don't know which one to buy. Which engine is not problematic. What is better 1.8 or 2.0
